Pardon the Interruption opened with a minute on the Star Wars franchise on Tuesday. It included Tony Kornheiser dancing with a giant Porg and calling dressed up fans “freaks” while Mike Wilbon mostly shook his head in confusion and disgust about the fans and franchise while saying “no no no.” It was the most effective marketing The Last Jedi has received and it should result in another boffo week at the box office.

Did they choose this topic? Maybe. A huge new Star Wars movie is certainly big enough news for a few moments of banter to kick off the show, but since both PTI and The Last Jedi are Disney properties, it’s possible this topic was chosen for them. Luckily, they’re two of the only people at ESPN who can do product placement without having to actually pitch the product. Star Wars is old and weird and they don’t get it, but it exists so buy a giant plush Porg.
