Josh McDaniels Turns Down Colts, Commence the Bill Belichick Speculation!

There’s been a considerable amount of will-he-or-won’t-he chatter about Josh McDaniels leaving the Colts at the altar — Mike Florio started it during the Super Bowl — but this Adam Schefter scoop still qualifies as a bombshell:

Stunner: Patriots’ OC Josh McDaniels has decided NOT to accept Colts’ HC job and will remain with New England, sources told ESPN.

So, uh, could that possibly mean Bill Belichick won’t return to New England? this has been an incredible week of speculating about what the future holds for the Patriots and it goes without saying that would be the cherry on top.
