One time while trailing the Sonics by a few points in the final seconds, Bird told Xavier McDaniel where he was going to get the ball on the final possession and how he would win the game with the shot. The Celtics then called time out, Bird told his team what he wanted to do, and then he ended the game exactly how he told McDaniel it was going to end. Didn’t matter if it was a game, a 3-point contest (remember that time when he never took off his warmup jacket and walked away with his index finger in the air as the winning money ball headed to the hoop), whatever. If there was something on the line, #33 was most likely telling someone how it was going to end – with him being the winner.
