No. 22-ranked Northwestern did particularly well to rescue a postseason appearance after beginning their 2018 season 1-3, winning seven of their last nine games to finish the regular campaign 8-5.

The #17 Utah Utes (8-4) ended their campaign one better off under head coach Kyle Whittingham, who’s praying for the fitness of quarterback Tyler Huntley, who was injured at the beginning of November.

Utah’s QB went down in the 38-20 defeat to Arizona State, but the Utes nevertheless managed to finish their season 3-1 without their star shot-caller, which ended with a 10-3 defeat at Washington.

Whether or not Huntley returns in time could be the decisive factor in Utah’s hopes of beating the Northwestern Wildcats, who have triumphed in their last two bowl games.

The Wildcats offense was one of the least impressive in the Big Ten this season, however, and ranked 12th in the conference, meaning it’s Northwestern who could be under pressure to produce points.
