This was supposed to be the second meeting of the season between LeBron James and his former team, but James is expected to miss at least one more week as he recovers from a groin injury. The Lakers are 3-6 in James’ absence this season, and the loss to the Jazz was a terrible reminder of just how key LeBron is to their playoff hopes.
Utah is a much better team than the Cavaliers, however. Cleveland have embraced the fight for the worst record in the league in hopes of winning the Draft Lottery, which is evident by their 12 consecutive losses. Injuries are piling up, G-League players are getting heavy minutes, and this season is all about developing young players who may have a future with the team.
Los Angeles needs the win to stay in a playoff spot and get one day closer to the return of their best player, while the Cavs will hope to put up a fight for as long as they can and see if point guard Collin Sexton shows promising sings once again.
