If it was possible after winning the Super Bowl last year, quarterback Nick Foles is an even bigger hero in Philadelphia these days. After coming off the bench to rescue the team in the regular season, Foles went to Chicago to play against the NFL’s best defense and led a fantastic game-winning drive in the fourth quarter to set up Sunday’s matchup against the Saints.
But beating New Orleans is an even bigger challenge than Chicago. The Saints were fantastic in the regular season, scoring the second-most points in the league and watching Drew Brees have an MVP-caliber season at age 39. Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram are a devastating rushing duo, Michael Thomas established himself as a top wide receiver in the league, and the defense isn’t bad either.
The Saints are big favorites to win this one, especially at home. The last time these two teams faced each other was Week 11 of this season, with New Orleans demolishing the Eagles at the Superdome by a score of 48-7. Philadelphia has improved a lot since then, but the Saints haven’t slowed down by any means. They might even be better, and that’s a scary proposition for the underdog Eagles. The funny thing is: the underdog Eagles love scary propositions.
