Toronto Raptors at Boston Celtics: Game Preview, Start Time, Live Stream, How to Watch NBA Online, Kyrie Irving Injury Update

The Boston Celtics were forecasted to challenge for top honors in the Eastern Conference this season, but Wednesday’s meeting with the Toronto Raptors will reacquaint them with the true kingpins.

The (33-12) Raptors sit pretty at the top of the NBA and had won their last five games traveling to TD Garden, but a 123-116 overtime defeat in their last trip to fifth-placed Boston will remind them to be wary of such revered opposition.

While Toronto has been flying high at the Eastern Conference summit, the Celtics have lost each of their three games—all on the road—and will surely be looking forward to the comfort of home. That’s because they haven’t lost in six matches at TD Garden, and are 4-0 at home in 2019 thus far.

Raptors shooting guard Danny Green is aware of the challenge his side faces on Wednesday and warned that Boston could be the team to undo their recent streak unless Toronto is vigilant, per sportsnet.ca:

“They are still a heavyweight in the East. Obviously, they have had some injuries. They are still waiting on some guys – we are too. Regardless of those facts, they are still a very good ball club and can play at a high level. Even though they have lost some games and have been up and down, they are still a heavyweight in the East and we got to go out there and respect them and play like that.”

The Celtics are 25-18 and seven games behind in Week 14 of the season. Kyrie Irving missed out on Monday’s 102-109 defeat to the Brooklyn Nets because of a quadriceps injury, but the star guard will be back at TD Garden.

Boston hasn’t managed to clinch back-to-back wins over the Raptors since the 2014-15 season, and it’s looking plausible that drought may go on with Toronto in their current form.

Head coach Nick Nurse has coached this Raptors team into developing a cutthroat instinct that’s seen them average 119.9 points in their last seven games, but beating the Boston Celtics is never a done deed.
