The final weekend of the NFL Playoffs before the Super Bowl gives us the two conference championship games, and the deciding matchup in the NFC is the one almost every football fan wanted to see: the New Orleans Saints will host the Los Angeles Rams at the Superdome, and the 60 minutes of football we’ll see on Sunday could be the best of the entire season.

These two teams had identical 13-3 records in the regular season and had by far the highest-scoring offenses in their conference. Both earned a bye in the first round of the NFL Playoffs, and both hosted games in the Divisional Round. The Saints defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in a nail-biter, while the Rams thoroughly dominated the Dallas Cowboys from start to finish and looked very impressive on both sides of the ball.
Now they meet with a trip to Atlanta on the line, and it’s impossible to know who is going to win. The Saints were favorites to win the NFC before the Playoffs started, but they were not even close to impressive against the Eagles and looked out of sync offensively. Drew Brees and Michael Thomas weren’t as sharp in the passing game, and Alvin Kamara wasn’t his usual dominant self on the running game.
The Rams, on the other hand, played their best football of the season against the Cowboys, with Jared Goff showing great composure in the pocket and finding his receivers in key moments while Todd Gurley and C.J. Anderson combined for almost 300 rushing yards. Aaron Donald was a monster on defense, and Los Angeles arrives in this game confident they can beat the Saints at the Superdome, something almost impossible to do in the playoffs with Drew Brees at quarterback.
This could either be a shootout with Brees and Goff firing touchdowns left and right, or a low-scoring affair with both defensive groups dominating. Whatever happens in terms of scoring, we are guaranteed a high-quality game and a worthy representative of the NFC in the Super Bowl.
