Michigan State is 8-0 against Big Ten opponents this season. The No. 6 Spartans will look to go 9-0 against the Big 10 when they take to the Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Thursday to play Iowa, you can stream live here.
The Spartans already defeated the Hawkeyes 90-68 at the Breslin Center in December, and the Big Ten leaders can take their overall record to 18-2 if they’re able to seal what would be a 13th consecutive win.

Tom Izzo is in his 24th season as head coach of Michigan State’s basketball program, and that experience has shown this campaign as his side has soared to sixth in the rankings. The Spartans have the potential to finish the regular season with 29 wins if they don’t drop another result, while Iowa’s three defeats have each come against Big Ten opposition.
That being said, Iowa (16-3) beat No. 24 Nebraska at the start of January and were 72-62 victors over No. 16 Ohio State only a few weeks later. It’s also worth mentioning only one of their three defeats this term have come at home, giving the Spartans more reason to be cautious.
Izzo’s side has won their last five road games in succession and scored an average of 73.6 points in those games.
The last three clashes between these two teams have each run in favor of Michigan State, who boasts a 72-53 win/loss record against the Hawkeyes. In fact, Iowa has managed to win only three of the last 20 meetings between the sides, two of which were on home turf.
Michigan State power forward Nick Ward scored a game-high 26 points in their December matchup—his second-best points tally in a game this season—but hasn’t been as involved for his side of late.
For Iowa, forward Tyler Cook’s injury is still taking its toll, but Luka Garza and freshman guard Joe Wieskamp have stepped up a lot to help contribute to the scoring load in recent weeks.
Iowa faces a tough task to beat the guests on Thursday, but a win over highly ranked Michigan State could rejuvenate their season altogether.
