This was supposed to be a matchup between two top MVP candidates in James Harden and Anthony Davis, but not only is Davis out with a finger injury, but he may well have played his last game as a Pelican. Anthony’s agent, Rich Paul, announced on Monday that Davis will not sign a contract extension and has requested to be traded away from the team. The bidding war has already started, and we’ll see rumors flying around everywhere until the February 7th trade deadline.

In the middle of all of this, is an actual Pelicans team that has lost three games in a row and is effectively out of the Playoff picture right now. The good news is they have Julius Randle back for Tuesday night, and the former Laker has had a great season and is a big boost for them. Jrue Holiday is also expected to play, and one of the best defenders in the league will be tasked with guarding arguably the best offensive player we have ever seen.

James Harden has been so good in the last two months that it’s completely OK to compare his offensive output to that of Michael Jordan, for example. Harden is impossible to guard right now, and even though Chris Paul is back it’s hard to imagine the main man will slow down anytime soon. The Rockets are fighting to host a Playoff series, and getting another win will be key for them.
