It’s almost unbelievable that this rematch is happening 17 years later and one of the teams still has the same quarterback and head coach, but it’s true. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will play their 9th Super Bowl together, with Brady looking for his sixth title to further cement his legacy as the greatest to ever do it. Brady has already made it clear he won’t retire after this season, but it would be a truly amazing story if Tom’s legendary career started and ended with a Super Bowl win over the Rams.
We all know Tom is doing it again win or lose, and the Rams’ job is to make sure he loses. Things are a lot different now than 17 years ago: the Rams were in St. Louis and head coach Sean McVay was still in high school, while quarterback Jared Goff wasn’t anywhere close to reading NFL defenses. Aaron Donald was probably already knocking people over in middle school, though.
Now the established, dominant force of the NFL meets the genius young coach and the star-studded squad of the Rams in what might just be the most dead even Super Bowl matchup we’ve seen in a long time. It’s just impossible to figure out who has the upper hand. Sure, the Rams have the most talent, but the Patriots have Brady and Belichick playing a 9th Super Bowl. There are no favorites here, just two really good teams ready to give us a game we may never forget.
