The Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors have tipped off at Scotiabank Arena in what should be a tight matchup between two of the NBA Eastern Conference’s best squads. Both have gotten a slow start after the All-Star break and will be aiming to capture some momentum heading into the season’s home stretch.

The Celtics arrive in Canada needing a big win to boost their confidence after a bad start to the post-All-Star schedule; Boston lost a heartbreaker to the Bucks in Milwaukee before suffering a bad loss to the Chicago Bulls in what was another reminder that this team still hasn’t found the right chemistry despite the immense depth of talent in the roster. Kyrie Irving has been under scrutiny for his comments about the younger players on the team, but he guaranteed after the Bulls loss that as long as he’s in uniform, they are not losing a seven-game series in the playoffs.

Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors might have something to say about Irving’s promise, although their blowout loss at home to the Orlando Magic on Sunday did not look good. Kawhi wasn’t available in that game, however, and his return on Tuesday night should give us a good idea about how good this team can be. The acquisition of Marc Gasol at the trade deadline brought talent and experience to what was already a stacked roster, and Toronto will use the final 21 games of the regular season to find the right lineups and enter the postseason playing their best basketball.

Tuesday night’s game should be a good one for two reasons: the Raptors relish these big regular-season matchups, especially at home, and the Celtics always put the chemistry issues to the side and concentrate on winning whenever they’re up against the top teams in the league.
