Lakers touching tribute to former star Anthony Davis

Tuesday night's matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers may have been the most anticipated matchup in recent memory in the NBA.

The two teams were involved in one of the biggest blockbuster trades in the history of the league, which saw Luka Doncic be sent to the Lakers.

However, lost in all of this is the fact that Anthony Davis was also involved in the trade. Davis was a member of the 2020 Lakers, who won the championship in the most strange season in NBA history.

It feels like many are forgetting just how great of a player that Davis actually is. However, the Lakers didn't forget, as the team created an emotional video tribute for their former star.

Unfortunately, Davis did not get to take part in the game, as the new Mavericks star is dealing with an injury. But you could tell the tribute meant a lot to the former number-one overall pick.

The night will go down as a celebration for the Lakers and Doncic. The Lakers stuck first in this new heated rivalry, earning the 107-99 victory.

Doncic put on a show against his former team, putting up a triple-double. However, this rivalry may not reach its full potential until the Mavericks get a healthy Davis.
