ABC Considering a Sitcom Based on the Life of Sportscenter Anchor Sage Steele
By Jason McIntyre
Steele didn’t return a phone call seeking comment.
This wouldn’t be the first time network TV attempted to make a show based on someone at ESPN. Previously, Mike Greenberg (submitted a pilot, it was rejected, and he’s re-writing), Mark Schelereth (pilot made, show wasn’t picked up) and Colin Cowherd (pilot made, show wasn’t picked up) have all been pursued by network TV executives.
According to a source, the show about Steele was tabled in 2011 after it couldn’t settle on writers, but the option was picked up in September 2012 and ABC is currently in the process of finding writers.
