Connor Shaw left the Chicago Bears’ preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs after suffering a gruesome leg injury. Shaw was carted off the field and it was later reported he suffered a broken leg just above his left ankle.

With just less than three minutes remaining in the game, Shaw dropped back and was hit by Rakeem Nunez-Roches as he released a throw. Shaw’s left leg appeared to buckle under his body and snap.

Warning, the video below is graphic and you absolutely should not watch if you’re squeamish.

Shaw was in immediate pain and trainers rushed to his side:

Shaw was 5-for-6 with 68 yards and a touchdown pass before suffering the injury. Reports out of Bears camp claimed he had almost surely solidified a spot on the team’s roster as the third quarterback.

While it’s possible Shaw could return this season, that injury looked really bad and it would be surprising if he did.
