Bill Simmons Compared Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth to WWE Announcers for Praising Roger Goodell's Integrity

Roger Goodell attended Saturday night’s Ravens-Patriots playoff game, days after the Mueller Report looking into how the league handled the Ray Rice investigation went public. The report, which was commissioned by the NFL, concluded Goodell never saw the video of Rice knocking out his then fiancee inside the elevator of an Atlantic City casino in February until TMZ released it in September.

On the NBC telecast Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth talked about the findings of the report when Goodell showed up on the screen in the first quarter. After Michaels provided a brief summation of the report, Collinsworth said, “The decision to suspend initially Ray Rice for two games was a mistake. Roger Goodell has admitted that, but I never once in all my dealings with the commissioner ever doubted his integrity and I think that came out in the report as well.”

If you thought like it sounded Michaels and Collinsworth were reading off a script provided by the NFL, you weren’t alone. Here’s what ESPN’s Bill Simmons tweeted about it:

Simmons, as you’ll recall, was suspended for three weeks in September 2014 for his comments on his podcast about Goodell’s handling of the Rice situation.
