Bill Simmons Earning $7 Million to $9 Million Per Year Per Report

The Hollywood Reporter profiled Bill Simmons. According to “two sources” in that piece, Simmons is earning “between $7 million and $9 million a year” at HBO. He was earning $5 million at ESPN. It appears to be an opportune time to be Bill Simmons.
For context, that’s almost an entire episode of Game of Thrones. The article also says Simmons turned down Yahoo and CBS/Showtime.
Depending on how one categorizes him, Simmons is either far and away the best compensated sportswriter or a still quite well compensated media mogul. Judging from him and Katie Nolan, we should have spent far more time bartending in our 20s.
