Clay Matthews Took Out Colin Kaepernick on a Diving Clothesline Tackle
By Jason Lisk
Clay Matthews is lucky to be in the game still. He got flagged for this launching tackle where he wrapped Kaepernick around the neck when he was almost past the outside white line. He then got up and when Joe Staley came rushing to his quarterback’s defense, looked like he threw a punch to Staley’s helmet with his right hand.
Matthews was clearly out of bounds and flagged. Staley was also flagged for coming over after the play with offsetting penalties, but Kaepernick got his revenge on the next play with a touchdown pass to Boldin. Kaepernick is on fire and throwing strikes, so expect tempers to continue to flare from the Green Bay defense after what happened in the playoffs last year.
