Dallas Cowboys Have No Interest in Johnny Manziel "Until He Gets His Life Back in Order"
By Kyle Koster
As expected, the Cleveland Browns released troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel on Friday. His NFL future is extremely uncertain and most agree he won’t get another opportunity until he addresses the demons which have plagued him.
The franchise that’s always brought up as one that would possibly take a flier is the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry Jones’ affinity for the Texas native is well-known and the billionaire owner cares little what others think.
But it appears even that door has been shut, for now.
"A source said the club has no intention of bringing the former Heisman Trophy winner in for a visit or signing him now that he’s been released by Cleveland. That same source said the Cowboys won’t pursue the quarterback and doesn’t forsee the club having any serious discussions about him, “until he gets his life back in order.”"
It’s not an entirely surprising development but it should serve as good indicator of the challenge Manziel will face on the road to redemption. The Cowboys and every other team will want him to have things in order before turning his attention back to football. That will take time.
The odds of him playing in 2016 seem highly unlikely.
That said, the Manziel-Dallas marriage is an idea that’s not going to go away overnight. It’s too sexy a story to die quietly.
