ESPN Anchor: Travis Kelce's Dance Treated Differently Than Cam Newton's "Because He's Not Black"

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce performed a complex touchdown dance during yesterday’s victory over Buffalo. It was not unlike routines Cam Newton has done this year, and yet Kelce been subject to the same amount of scrutiny.

ESPN’s Robert Flores shared a theory why one man’s end-zone gyrations may be getting more attention than another man’s end-zone gyrations.

"“I’m wondering why there’s no letters to the editor or why First Take’s not doing ‘Should Travis Kelce be dancing in the end zone?’… I wonder why they’re not doing that.  Oh, because he’s not black.  That’s probably what it is.”"

There’s probably a kernel of truth to what Flores said. Then again, Kelce’s dance took place less than 24 hours ago and we all know the outrage cycle needs 36-48 hours to really get going. So fear not. Somewhere a concerned mom is firing up her computer hellbent on letting the Kansas City Star know that her daughter’s innocence was lost when a professional athlete performed a pelvic thrust. It’s been happening since Elvis.

Never underestimate mankind’s ability to sap the fun out of everything.
