ESPN's American Outlaws World Cup Promo will Make You Wish It's June Already
By Mike Cardillo
ESPN, if we’re judging solely on its advance promos, is going out as a World Cup broadcaster on a very high note. Last week the WWL gave us incomparble Ian Darke narrating an awkward Internet date. Today ESPN unveiled it’s cool American Outlaws promo, setting the bar even higher for Fox when it takes over broadcasting the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. It’s remarkable that ESPN went from dreadful coverage in 2006 — remember the awkward Dave O’Brien experiment — to where it is now following its terrific display four years ago in South Africa.
Anyways, it’s a good promo and although I’m guessing players like Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Germany’s Marco Reus won’t be all that intimidated by a bunch of guys in red bandannas or Captain America costumes cheering from the stands of newly constructed Brazilian stadiums.
