Georgia beat LSU 44-41 at home between the hedges. Unlike the deceptive Alabama-Texas A&M game, this was as fraught and back and forth as the score made it look. It was well played, at least offensively. It was the game of the 2013 season, thus far.

The quarterback battle was as advertised. Murray was 20/34 for 298 yards and four touchdowns with a pick. He also had one on the ground. Mettenberger completed 23 of 37 for 372 yards and three touchdowns. The biggest factors in Georgia’s favor were getting pressure on Mettenberger (four sacks to LSU’s zero) and their running game. The Bulldogs averaged 5.8 yards per carry to LSU’s 2.2.

Georgia’s win gives them inside track in the SEC East. It also keeps alive hopes of winning the BCS Title. LSU has a brutal schedule in front of them, with Florida, Alabama, Texas A&M and Ole Miss still on the slate.
