Golf Channel's Charlie Rymer Once Explained How Golfers Would Put Putters Into Their Butts In the 1920's

This video was uploaded to YouTube just last week. It shows Golf Channel’s Charlie Rymer talking about anchored – or “belly” – putters. Based on the scroll at the bottom, this originally aired in early February 2012, shortly after Paul Lawrie won the Commercialbank Qatar Masters. I have spent hours on the Google machine, trying to find other video to no avail. (The only mention I can find comes from a GolfWRX message board which features a since deleted video.) I can’t believe that no one caught this nearly two years ago and it is just showing up – remixed! – in November 2013, but here we are.

After speaking with our resident golf expert Spencer096 (Here’s Spence on the belly putter ban), we have decided to run this clip because it features Charlie Rymer saying, “that putter is actually going up into his butt,” while looking at a picture from the late 1920’s of Golf Hall of Famer, Leo Diegel. That is a timeless statement. So it must be chronicled on the Internet. Even if you somehow saw this back when it happened, just consider it a Throw Back Thursday post. Sorry, Charlie.
