Here's a Texas High School Football Player Drilling a Referee in 2008
By Jason McIntyre
As the high school football players who blindsided a referee over the weekend await their punishment, another video has surfaced showing that it isn’t the first time such an event has happened in Texas.
Sports Day HS found this 2008 clip from a game between Allen-Euless and Trinity in which a defensive back drilled a referee who wasn’t paying attention. It happens at the :20 mark in the above video. According to Sports Day:
"The Hurst Euless Bedford ISD investigated and the player was disciplined, although the punishment was never revealed. The player also mailed a letter apology to the official, the district said."
Police are still investigating Friday’s hit by John Jay High School players Victor Rojas (#12) and Mike Moreno (#81) who have been suspended from school.
