Jeremy Lin vs. Ricky Rubio is How You Should Spend Your Saturday Night
By Jason McIntyre
(On the undercard: Tyson Chandler vs. Kevin Love.)
Lin’s 23, Asian-American, and has had a Kung-Fu grip on the league for the last week: 25 points, 7 assists vs. the Nets; 28 points, 8 assists vs. the Jazz; 23 points, 10 assists vs. the Wizards and 38 points, 7 assists vs the Lakers. Golden State Warriors fans are wondering where this was last year; Houston Rockets fans are angry the team wavied him to sign Sam Dalembert. (Their GM, Daryl Morey, has copped to swinging and missing, badly.)
Rubio, up until a week ago, was probably the best NBA story this season. The frail 21-year-old point guard made the Timberwolves wait two years before leaving Spain, but he’s been worth it: 10.9 points, 8.7 assists per game. He’s fifth in the league in assists per game, and tied for first in steals (2.4). The Timberwolves (13-14) are showing signs of life for the first time since Kevin Garnett was traded to Boston in 2007.
This will be Lin’s first true road test (Washington was most certainly not a test), and his first back-to-back. The Knicks are 6.5 point underdogs.
