Johnny Manziel Signs Nike Endorsement Deal, Gets Paid
By Mike Cardillo
Johnny Manziel is getting P-A-I-D before he even takes a snap in the NFL. ESPN’s Darren Rovell reports Thursday night that Manziel signed an endorsement contract with Nike. It will be the largest of the 2014 NFL rookie class.
Congrats to Phil Knight are in order, right?
Nike + Manziel seems like a perfect match. Love him or hate him, expect Nike’s marketing gurus to cook up something memorable with the former Texas A&M quarterback. Figure the Manziel/Nike campaign debuts during draft coverage in May. It’s a safe bet you’ll like it a lot the first time you see it, but much less after it airs for the 200th time over the course of the draft’s four day telecast.
It should come as zero surprise that the Johnny Football brand (or #brand if you will) proved to be quite lucrative.
