Knowshon Moreno's DUI Arrest in a Bentley Convertible With SAUCED on the License Plate Helps Further Highlight What a Bust He's Been
By Jason McIntyre
Three years in the league, and his production has decreased each season. He may or may not have been in a bar fight. He’s injury-prone. I can’t see him starting next season as the 1st or even 2nd tailback on the Broncos. Willis McGahee is certainly No. 1, and Lance Ball had a strong enough 2011 season that he should enter camp as the No. 2 back. Toss in the Tim Tebow running factor, and Moreno is essentially useless.
Moreno turning out to be a bust really hurts when you look at the talent in the 2009 draft. Denver took Morneo 12th overall, and here are the backs who went after him:
Beanie Wells, 31st, Arizona
LeSean McCoy, 53rd, Philadelphia
Shonn Greene, 65th, New York Jets
Arian Foster, undrafted, Houston Texans
In a loaded draft like this, it really stinks to miss, especially when players like this were taken in the first round:
Brian Orakpo, Washington, 13th
Brian Cushing, Houston, 15th
Alex Mack, Cleveland, 21st
Percy Harvin, Minnesota 22nd
Clay Matthews, Green Bay 26th
Hakeem Nicks, New York Giants 29th
The Broncos had two picks in the first round in 2009 – they took Robert Ayers from Tennessee 18th. In three seasons (42 games), he’s had 4.5 sacks.
