Luis Suarez and Liverpool May Have Ended Andre Villas-Boas Days at Tottenham
By Mike Cardillo
Luis Suarez scored two more goals, giving him 17 on the Premier League season helping Liverpool destroy Tottenham 5-0 Sunday at White Hart Lane. The win moved Liverpool to within two points of first-place Arsenal while the loss heaps all sorts of pressure on Spurs coach Andre Villas-Boas.
Liverpool were rampant throughout the match and toyed with Spurs over the final 20+ minutes after Paulinho was sent off for a cleats-up challenge on Suarez. Spurs finished the match without a shot on target and have scored only 15 goals in 16 league games, leading to rampant speculation that Villas-Boas days (or hours) are numbered in North London.
How good was it for Liverpool? Jon Flanagan scored his first league goal for the club in spectacular fashion, no less.
This was the second awful scoreline in the league for Tottenham in less than a month. On Nov. 24 Manchester City beat them down 6-0, but the club followed it up with five games unbeaten … until today’s Suarez-led humiliation. [GIFs via r/soccer]
