Marion Bartoli Defeats Sabine Lisicki to Win Wimbledon

Marion Bartoli defeated Sabine Lisicki (6-1, 6-4) Saturday to win the Ladies’ Wimbledon Final. It’s the first Grand Slam title for the 28-year-old Frenchwoman. Bartoli had never advanced beyond the quarterfinals prior to this year.

Lisicki, in her first Slam final, was emotional throughout the match and fighting back tears in the postgame interviews. The German ousted Serena Williams on her way to the final.
