Mark Sanchez Got Benched, and Here's the Low-light Reel of His Catastrophe Against the Cardinals
By Jason McIntyre
Mark Sanchez was benched in favor of backup – technically, 3rd stringer – Greg McElroy against the Cardinals, and as you can see from the video above, Rex Ryan clearly made the right call.
The numbers from Sanchez were grizzly: 10-of-21, 97 yards, three interceptions. A week after the epic buttfumble, Sanchez needed to perform better.
McElroy entered in the 3rd quarter, led the Jets on their only TD drive of the game, and New York held on for an unimpressive 7-6 victory. Afterward, Rex was peppered with the obvious questions: Who is the starter next week against 2-10 Jacksonville? He said he hadn’t made up his mind. I’ll sleep on it and have my take tomorrow.
