Mercer Throwing Huge Scare into Duke, and Jabari Parker Has 3 Fouls
By Jason McIntyre
Duke is in trouble in the first round of the NCAA Tournament again.
The Blue Devils have once again fallen in love with the 3-pointer – they attempted 21 in the first half; Mercer attempted 21 shots – and the shots are not falling. Oh, and Mercer is ridiculously efficient offensively, running good sets and making free throws despite getting slaughtered on the glass (Duke had 12 offensive rebounds at the half).
Duke led by one at the half, but Mercer peeled off an 11-2 run early in the second half to grab a 45-40 lead. Duke star Jabari Parker picked up his 3rd foul and went to the bench, but the Blue Devils answered with an 8-0 run to regain the lead.
One of the few Duke highlights: Quinn Cook’s ankle-breaker. Too bad he missed the shot.
