Mike Francesa & Jim Nantz Got into a Heated Argument About NFL Investigator Robert Mueller [AUDIO]
By Mike Cardillo
Mike Francesa and Jim Nantz are longtime friends, dating back to the days when they both worked for CBS. Nantz is a frequent guest on the radio host’s New York show, often on NFL Sunday mornings. This week their conversation turned toward the NFL’s investigation into the Ray Rice situation led by former FBI director Robert Mueller.
The conversation started off relatively normal. Francesa didn’t think the public would “buy” an “independent” investigation from someone appointed by the NFL. Nantz, meanwhile, defended the integrity of Mueller being “besmirched.” From there it escalated, with Francesa — as is his wont — raising his voice to make sure his point was heard. This is also about as heated as we’ve heard Nantz in a long time. (The sparks really start flying around the 5:45 mark.)
Eventually Francesa hustled Nantz off, saying he needed to get to a commercial. The best part is Francesa handwaves Nantz like a regular caller, “thanks for coming on, I’ll talk to you next week.”
I’ll assume after Mike hung up on him, Nantz closed his eyes and thought about the azaleas at Augusta National for a minute or two to calm down.
