Nate Burleson Drops Pizza, Crashes Car, Breaks Arm
By Mike Cardillo
Nate Burleson is your clubhouse leader for dumbest NFL injury of the 2013 season. The veteran Detroit Lions wide receiver was driving home from a Monday Night Football viewing party with teammates and crashed his car on I-696 in Farmington Hills, Mich., around 2:25 a.m. It left his arm broken in two places.
The culprit was not alcohol, but another deadly vice: pizza.
Burleson was apparently driving and according to the police report, “trying to catch an object that was falling off his seat.” That object was pizza. (You’d think an NFL wide receiver would have better hands.)
Cheesy injury or not, the break figures to sideline Burleson indefinitely. The veteran leads the Lions with 19 receptions and is coming off a 116-yard receiving day in Sunday’s win over the Redskins.
Let this be a lesson kids: don’t eat and drive.
