Neymar — the face of the 2014 World Cup — scored his first goal of the tournament with a perfectly-placed low strike that somehow snuck into the lower right netting past the reach of Croatia keeper Stipe Pletikosa. The strike offset Marcelo’s own-goal earlier in the half to tie the score at 1-1.

The Brazilian star entered the World Cup with around 6-to-1 odds to finish as the tournament’s top-scorer, so figure this is the first of many for Neymar. How many others soothe frayed nerves across the host nation is another story.
