Nick Young After Game-Winner: "I don't play like Charmin, I play Like Scott. That's a little rougher"
By Kyle Koster
Master motivator Kobe Bryant apparently knew what he was doing when he laced into his “soft” team with a profanity-laden outburst during practice.
Clearly scared to death of their teammate, Bryant’s supporting cast showed up in a big way last night against the San Antonio Spurs. The result was a surprising 112-110 overtime victory, capped by Nick Young’s scissor-kick three-pointer with 7.4 seconds remaining in the extra period.
Swaggy P has a predictably entertaining quote in the wake of his heroics.
Young also couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give himself a new nickname and deliver a subtle jab at Bryant.
"“Once it left my hand, I kind of knew it was cash,” Young said. “I’m like, ‘I don’t miss.’ That’s my new name — ‘I.D.M.’ Call me ‘I.D.M.’ You feel me?” “I’m glad I had a chance to hit a game winner with somebody like Kobe [Bryant] on the floor, who normally has the ball in his hands all the time,” Young said."
But wait. There’s more.
"“No offense to Kobe, but I didn’t think I was going to get the ball that much [Friday],” Young said. “I thought he was going to break that record — at least get 40 or 50 [points]. With all the cameras that were around, I didn’t think I was going to get the ball that much.”"
All in all, it was an undeniably full night for Young.
I’ll say this for the Lakers: they aren’t very good but they are far from boring.
