Salvador Perez Drove in Winning Run for Royals; George Brett Loved It

Salvador Perez hit a ball up the third base line past a diving Josh Donaldson to give the Kansas City Royals 9-8 win in 12 innings over the Oakland Athletics in the American League Wild Card game. The Royals, playing in their first playoff game since 1985, rallied from a 7-3 deficit after the sixth inning and about 829 bunts called by manager Ned Yost.
The Royals move on to play the Angels in the ALDS … except on MLB.com which appeared to post an early edition of the game story from 10 p.m. immediately after the game ended. I guess this only emphasizes how improbable the Royals comeback felt. (It was quickly pulled for the accurate story with the Royals comeback. These things happen in the world of live sports.)
