San Antonio High School Football Players: Official Used a Racial Slur

Less than 72 hours after a video went online showing two San Antonio Jay High School football players hitting a referee during a football game, the school district has released a statement of its findings into the incident.

"According to the district, the students involved allege that the official used a racial slur towards them and a Jay High School assistant coach made comments that could have led the students to make improper contact with the official. Northside ISD will conduct a disciplinary hearing for the students and treat the incident as an assault on a school official. The assistant coach has been placed on administrative leave by the district while the investigation continues. The district is in the process of filing an official report to the Texas Association of Sports Officials regarding the racial slur allegations."

The players are alleging that not only did the referee they hit utter a racial slur, but one of their assistant coaches said something about it, perhaps leading to the assault. The fact that this is being treated as “an assault on a school official” could mean that these two players are looking at jail time.

The assistant coach in question is 29-year old Mack Breed, who allegedly said, “this guy needs to pay for cheating us.”
