Seahawks Concerned About Russell Wilson as "Celebrity QB"

Russell Wilson and the Seahawks have struggled to a 4-5 record so far this season. On ESPN this morning, Chris Mortensen relayed the nugget below. Is this a euphemism for the quarterback’s relationship with Ciara, and/or does it expand well beyond that?

One thing that is interesting about this is the idea that these concerns are new — if you’ll recall, last October, Mort reported that the Seahawks organization asked Wilson to “tone down” his endorsements. The Seahawks would rebound from their early issues, and went on to reach the Super Bowl.

This season, the Seahawks have taken longer to right the ship, and find themselves with zero margin for error. Wilson, with his lucrative new contract, is taking his turn as the scapegoat. It will be interesting to see if this is the beginning of a barrage of leaks. If Seattle keeps losing, the negative stories about Wilson will presumably continue.
