Snoop Dogg Talked Trash To 2 Chainz After Lakers Beat Atlanta Hawks
By Bryan Kalbrosky
Rap icon and Los Angeles Lakers superfan Snoop Dogg noticed that hip-hop star 2 Chainz was courtside when L.A. defeated the Atlanta Hawks last night.
The Doggfather decided to talk some trash to the Georgia-born rapper.
Warning, as you could have imagined: this video clip is not safe for work due to language.
It is, however, worth watching if you’re excited by the surprising success of the Lake Show this season. Or if you’re just a rap and/or trash talk enthusiast.
Here’s a full transcript for the video in case you don’t have headphones at your desk right now.
“2 Chainz, I see you at the game. We ain’t the same Lakers you thought we was. I see you got floor seats. You could have came over here and smoked with your n**** and enjoyed this loss y’all took. We ain’t the same Lakers. We different. We on our s***. Atlanta, y’all got the best strip clubs. Y’all got the hottest raps out right now. But this basketball s***? Y’all can’t f*** with us! 2 Chaaaaaaainz! You know I still love you, n****, but this Lakers. We back.”
It’s worth mentioning that 2 Chainz is not a casual Hawks fan, either. He was (jokingly) CEO of the Hawks for a day in March 2014. The team has even had a theme night dedicated to the performer (via NBA.com).
Here are my personal highlights from the Snoop Dogg video, however, ranked in order of personal enjoyment:
1. Snoop Dogg admitted the rap game is better in Atlanta
While the Long Beach-born hip-hop star constantly reps the West Coast, he knows what’s current and hip right now. No city has a hotter scene right now than Atlanta.
Snoop showed love to stars like Gucci Mane (who recently got engaged at a Hawks game), Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Rae Sremmurd and Lil Yachty.
2. The rapper thinks the Lakers are “back” with a .500 record
After the Los Angeles Lakers were essentially tanking and ended up with lottery picks in the last three NBA Drafts, it’s good to see the team winning games.
Last night, the team played shorthanded and still laid a smackdown on the Hawks.
Luke Walton has made a legitimate case for NBA’s Coach of the Month. But if the playoffs ended today, they would be the No. 8 seed. That’s not exactly 3-peat or Showtime material.
3. He even did the 2 Chainz ad lib to add emphasis to his point
As any argument should end, Snoop Dogg showed respect to the subject of his diss.
He said he still loves 2 Chainz, which was reassuring. The two rappers both featured on a Chris Brown song together in 2012.
They’ve played in a celebrity basketball game together. But we’ve never heard Snoop attempt the classic “2 Chaaaaaaaainz” signature, so that was pretty cool.
