T.J. Oshie's Goal Beats Russia in Olympic Shootout, U-S-A!, U-S-A!
By Mike Cardillo
T.J. Oshie beat Sergei Bobrovsky through the five-hole in the eighth round of the shootout to lift the Team USA men’s hockey team to a 3-2 win over Russia in Group A play at the Sochi Olympics. Oshie took six of the eight attempts by Team USA in the shootout, making four. On the other end Jonathan Quick was equally heroic in goal.
Using the shootout format to decide a group stage game seems a little dubious, but it still produced 10 minutes of edge-of-your-seat entertainment.
Who cares, right? U-S-A! U-S-A!
