The 2022 NBA Dunk Contest should be great: The NBA All-Star weekend is somehow already here and once again we are trying to stir up optimism that this year's dunk contest will be worth watching. Last year was a bit of a disappointment, as it often is. But the participants this year give even the most cynical dunk fan hope. Obi Toppin makes a rare repeat appearance after losing in the Finals last year, which means he'll come screaming out of the gate. We've got two guards participating, and it's always way more fun to see a 6-foot-2 guy jump out of the gym than a 6-foot-8 guy. And both of those guards, Jalen Green and Cole Anthony, have flair.

Will we be disappointed? Maybe! But the chances are higher than normal this year that we'll see some great jams. And at least we know everybody's name in this contest. Juan Toscano-Anderson is the biggest "unknown" and he's a key role player for the second-best team in the West. Is Cassius Stanley still in the league? Remember Jeremy Evans? Relevancy makes things a bit more fun. With all due respect.
