The Jason McIntyre Show: Actor Jerry O'Connell on the Jets, Movies and TV Shows

I’m changing up the podcast a bit this week, veering from straight sports talk to entertainment slash sports with actor Jerry O’Connell. If you’re a movie fan, you surely remember him from Stand by Me. Or his cameo on Can’t Hardly Wait or Jerry Maguire or perhaps the TV show Sliders. O’Connell is a huge Jets fan, also likes the Knicks and Yankees (which just happen to be my three favorite teams), and he’s married to Rebecca Romijn, who once was on the cover of the SI Swimsuit issue. A brief synopsis of our 30 minute chat:

* Jerry O’Connell, he’s just like us: He was late for the podcast because he had to move his car in NYC for street sweeping.
* He has been a reader of The Big Lead for many years. He has questions/concerns about the acquisition by USA Today.
* He thinks I write about the Jets way too much on the site.
* He rides the Subway in New York and people shout, “hey, Trip McNeely!”
* Sure, he played a QB in Jerry Maguire, but O’Connell was actually on the fencing team in NYU. What’s it like picking up chicks as a college freshman if you’ve been in movies?
