Tom Brady to Tim Tebow in 2011: "I'm trying to watch over Aaron [Hernandez] and Brandon [Spikes]"

Tom Brady met Tim Tebow at midfield after the Patriots throttled the Broncos, 41-23 in December 2011. It was a game in which the Broncos came in hot – winners of six straight – and Tim Tebow opened the scoring with a TD run, but it was all Patriots after that. (As you might imagine, the game was a ratings hit.) A year and a half later, here’s the most interesting moment from that game – Brady tells Tebow, “I’m trying to watch over Aaron [Hernandez] and Brandon [Spikes] but … we’ve got a lot to handle.”

Given the downfall of Hernandez over the last month, I wonder if the Boston media will be asking Brady what he meant when he said this to Tebow. I’m also wondering if maybe the Patriots didn’t sign Tebow to be a backup QB or to play tight end, but seriously to be a babysitter of Hernandez, Spikes, and perhaps even Gronk.
