VIDEO: Angels Reliever Joe Smith Beat Stephen Curry in PIG
By Kyle Koster
The Golden State Warriors are going for their 73rd win of the season tonight. They are led by the incomparable Stephen Curry, perhaps the greatest shooter of all time. Or so we thought.
Some members of the Los Angeles Angels visited Warriors practice on Tuesday. Mike Trout beat Draymond Green in a game of PIG. “I’m not very good at shooting games,” Green said. “I can shoot in the games, but I ain’t good at shooting games. It’s cool though. It’s fun.”
Then Joe Smith — middle relief pitcher to the stars — challenged Curry. That’s when the fun and games stopped. Smith somehow defeated the All-Star guard, using a left-handed three-pointer to seal the deal.
Up is down. Left is right. Black is white.
"“Well, you don’t go into something expecting you’re going to lose, that ain’t how you become a professional athlete,” cracked Smith. “Everything you do you want to win. But that was pretty cool. Like I told him, we positioned everybody the right way. I just got lucky, I was in front of him and there were four guys. All of his tough shots, everybody else missed. We knew somebody had to beat him. We couldn’t walk out of here without a win, you know? That’s not making ESPN.”"
Smith has to be incredibly happy television cameras were on-site at the time. There’s no way anyone would believe him without visual proof.
Does anyone know if the 95-96 Bulls used to lose shooting contests to Sammy Sosa? Seems important right now.
