Warriors' Co-Owner Sends E-mail Saying He's Learning "Hoodish," Says He Meant "Yiddish"
Peter Guber is a co-owner and the Co-Executive Chairman of the Golden State Warriors. On Monday, the NBA announced that the league will feature a record 101 international players from 37 countries this season. Warriors director of media relations Raymond Ridder forwarded an e-mail to everyone in the franchise pointing out that the team had five international players – Andrew Bogut,Leandro Barbosa, Festus Ezeli, Ognjen Kuzmic and Nemanja Nedovic. Guber replied with this message (via Yahoo!):
"“I’m taking rosetta stone to learn Hungarian Serbian Australian swahili and hoodish This year. But it’s nice.”"
Guber has since apologized and blamed autocorrect for changing Yiddish to “hoodish.” The inclusion of Swahili and “Australian” are also head-scratchers. Perhaps he was trying to name as many languages as he could think of. Either way, let this serve as a reminder that no good has ever come from replying all to a company-wide e-mail. When you receive a company-wide e-mail, you’re better off immediately deleting it than even considering replying. Especially from your phone.
