Andrew Luck Matches Cam Newton's Combine From Last Year

Cam Newton wowed us last year with his performance at the combine, showing tremendous athleticism in posting a 4.59 40 yard dash, 35 inch vertical, and 10’6″ broad jump.

Well, Andrew Luck went out this morning and put up a 4.59 40 yard dash time, put up a 36″ vertical, and a 10’4″ broad jump.

If there was any doubt (and I don’t think there was) Andrew Luck just showed why he is a once in a decade type prospect. Long time starter in a pro-style offense, consistent performer, excellent pocket awareness, great leadership skills, and on top of all that, athleticism and size every bit as good as Cam Newton, who took the NFL by storm last season. The early buzz was about Robert Griffin III, and in a typical year, Griffin would have a chance to be first overall, and probably would have been in more than half the seasons of the last decade. Not this year.
