Nate Burleson crashed his car a week ago coming home from a Monday Night Football viewing party. The crash made news since the cause was a dropped slice of pizza while he was driving.

Today Burleson, a veteran wide receiver on the Detroit Lions, posted this picture to his Instagram account of his totaled car (along with the pizza). Credit Burleson for having a sense of humor about it, making a self-depricating Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles joke writing, “Yes I am the 5th Ninja Turtle. #LovePizza #LetTheJokesBegin.”

Less funny is the serious-looking nature of the crash. As Burleson admitted, he was lucky to walk away with just a broken left arm.

Burleson describes the incident in detail to USA Today:

"“Hopped on the freeway and multitasking,” he said. “I’ll be honest with you. I’m the king of that. Well, I was. “Plugging in my phone, reaching for something and I had some pizzas sitting in my passenger’s seat. They started to slide. Hand full of pizza. Once I looked up, I felt I was close to a vehicle, tried to correct the car, overcorrected it and boom, right into the center median.”"

Burleson hopes to return before the end of the season.
