Mike Francesa Ending YES Simulcast, Says A-Rod Interview Might Have Been a Factor
By Mike Cardillo
Over the weekend the Daily News reported the simulcast of Mike Francesa’s WFAN radio show on the YES Network was coming to an end after a decade gracing our television screens. Monday Francesa addressed the situation and confirmed the simulcast was ending in January. He cited editorial control as part of the reason for the split. Francesa was vague about where the simulcast will end up. MSG and SNY have been rumored as landing spots.
Francesa also noted that his infamous in-studio interview with Alex Rodriguez that likely didn’t sit too well with Yankees brass — the owners of YES — might have been a factor, too. C’mon Hank and Hal, how could two pals shaking hands possibly be construed as a problem?
It’s a shame the simulcast is ending, if temporarily.
And who doesn’t love GIFs and other assorted laughs via a portly, middle-aged man who has a personal vendetta against Twitter among other modern technologies? (Answer: nobody, Francesa is universally beloved across all platforms.)
At least we’ll always have this all-time GIF of Francesa falling asleep on air:
