Russell Westbrook Underwent Knee Surgery, Out Until After All-Star Game
By Mike Cardillo

Russell Westbrook had “minor”surgery on his knee and will be out until after the NBA All-Star Game in February, reports Thunder beat writer Darnell Mayberry. Westbrook injured his knee in April and missed most of last season’s playoffs. He returned to the lineup ahead of schedule this season, missing only the first two games of the 2013-14 season. Westbrook was averaging 21.3 points this season on 39 percent shooting.
Russell Westbrook underwent scope surgery on his knee today to address recent swelling. He's expected back post All-Star break. More coming.

The Thunder are only half a game off the Blazers for the best record in the Western Conference. The injury to Westbrook — his third knee surgery in ninth months — should open the door for Portland, or even San Antonio to grab the conference’s No. 1 seed for the playoffs.
