Vitali Klitschko, the former world heavyweight boxing champion, found himself front-and-center in the widespread protests in his native Ukraine over the weekend. Since stepping away from the ring Klitschko has taken up a role as an opposition leader against the government’s plans to pull out of a deal with the European Union in favor of closer to ties to Russia. Klitschko has even mentioned his intentions to run for president.

Things got ugly Sunday in Kiev (think Molotov cocktails-level ugly) and Klitschko ended up with a face full of fire extinguisher exhaust from one very ballsy protester.

On a semi-related note, the U.S. National Team is set to play Ukraine on March 5 in Lviv in a pre-World Cup tune-up. Somebody at the U.S. Soccer Federation made a great decision. [H/T HyperVocal]
